Is Chris Christie Fuckin Kidding Me Saying "Dan Campbell Has No Class And Never Has" In Relation To His Lions Kicking The Shit Out Of The Cowboys On Sunday?

Detroit Free Press - Chris Christie, the former Republican governor of New Jersey and former U.S. presidential candidate, blasted Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell on Thursday for running up the score against the Cowboys in last week's 47-9 victory.

"That's Dan Campbell. He's got no class, never has," Christie said Thursday on Mad Dog Unleashed radio show with Chris Russo. "So it's fine. Look, Dan Campbell, that's the way he is, and what goes around comes around."

One of the most beloved coaches in the NFL, Campbell played three seasons for the Cowboys in 2003-05 after four years with the New York Giants.

Christie was governor of New Jersey in 2010-18, home to the Giants and New York Jets, yet is a Cowboys fan "because the Giants were awful," he said in 2017, adding he watched Super Bowl V and "fell in love with Roger Staubach."

What are we talking about here Mr. Governor?

Dan Campbell, "no class"? Are you being serious?

Here was the full soundbyte from the Mad Dog's show for context.

"I just think that it's misdirected," Christie said in his radio interview. "Dan Campbell's angry because the referees got a call wrong in the game a year ago. Well, then you know, run that play on (NFL commissioner) Roger Goodell. The Cowboys had nothing to do with the play being called incorrectly. It wasn't a challenge that the Cowboys made. It was the call the referees made. The Lions got hurt by it. The Cowboys benefited by it. But now so because of that, you want to take your, you know, your peak out over that, while you're, you know, beating the hell out of these guys, and rub it in. I don't think that's what pros do, but it's his prerogative. It's the reputation that he'll carry around. And quite frankly, I think most people think that's his rep now anyway."

Ok, being levelheaded here I somewhat agree with Christie here in the sense that yes, Goodell and his henchmen are the ones to blame for Detroit getting fucked over last year. But then you also have to include Jerry Jones who defacto runs the league, and also Campbell's decision to not kick it away and go for it on that 4th down that got stuffed into the equation. But the point remains, technically no, it wasn't Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott's fault the Lions got fucked out of that game and the #2 spot in the playoffs last year in that week 17 matchup.

But how many times now has Detroit been fucked over by the Cowboys?

I blogged about it on Monday, but Detroit opened up the entire playbook against Dallas this Sunday. And it was a glorious thing to watch.

The Lions ran three trick plays last week against the Cowboys, including a hook-and-lateral to offensive tackle Penei Sewell with a 37-9 lead. Campbell told players before the game he planned to "unload the clip" after losing to the Cowboys in the fashion they did last season.

And how can you blame him?

This is professional football. Not a ballet recital, Chris.

Plus Dallas was at home. Where they get double the calls they usually do.

As is always the rule, you don't like getting your doors blown off? Then stop them on defense. This has nothing to do with class or sportsmanship. Dan Campbell is one of the most revered and respected coaches in football for a reason amongst the players - not empty suit politicians who arm chair quarterback.

p.s. - As much as I would love to kill Christie like everybody does for being from Jersey and being a Cowboys fan, I cannot. His explanation for watching Super Bowl V as a kid and falling in love with Roger Staubach plays. I suffered the same fate as a kid growing up watching Dan Marino beat the Patriots brains in twice a season and fell in love with him. So I can relate. Plus, my entire life I've lived listening to my dad rant and rave about what an absolute stud Roger Staubach was. His nickname was "Captain America" for crying out loud. He won a Heisman while attending Navy! Served in the Navy over in Vietnam after graduating, then came back and lead the Cowboys to five Super Bowls- winning two and claiming MVP once. He was also a lady killer. If a kid from New Jersey is going to love an arch rival football team because of one player, Roger Staubach gives him a pass in my book.
